JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The position plays a crucial role in managing and administering employee benefits and compensation programs within the organization. This role requires a strong understanding in HR principles, excellent analytical skills, and attention to detail. Additionally, staying informed about changes in the labor laws and industry trends is essential for success in this position.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

•    Manage employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits. 
•    Conduct regular audits to ensure the accuracy of payroll deductions related to benefits.
•    Processes and monitors progress of employee leave requests such as FMLA, LTD, Worker’s Comp, and leave without pay.
•    Ensure accurate and timely payment of benefit-related invoices.
•    Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing employee benefits, including distribution of required notices. 
•    Process employee accommodation requests as related to ADA. 
•    Coordinate open enrollment processes and provide assistance to employees regarding benefits options.
•    Conduct market research to analyze and benchmark the organization’s compensation structure against industry standards.
•    Evaluate positions, determining appropriate salary ranges.
•    Maintain salary structures and pay scales.
•    Collect and analyze compensation data to identify trends and make recommendations of adjustments.
•    Generate reports on benefits utilization, compensation trends, and other relevant HR metrics.
•    Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies related to benefits and compensation.  Ensure that policies align with legal requirements and industry best practices.
•    Communicate effectively with employees regarding benefits and compensation matters.
•    Conduct educational sessions to help employees understand their benefits options and make informed decision.
•    Work closely with HR team, finance, and other relevant departments to ensure seamless administration of benefits and compensation.
•    Collaborate with external vendors, such as insurance providers, to manage benefit plans effectively
•    Address and resolve employee inquiries and issues related to benefits and compensation.
•    Identify opportunities for process improvements in benefits and compensation administration.
•    Serves on College committees, as requested; attends HR and benefit-related workshops, webinars and seminars.
•    Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

•    Knowledge of general HR practices and procedures.
•    Knowledge of retirement plan (403(b)) administration and legislation. 
•    Knowledge of applicable HR legislation and government-sponsored programs such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
•    Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with varied audiences. 
•    Strong quantitative and analytical skills. 
•    Excellent time/project management and organizational skills; ability to effectively and successfully complete multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
•    Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle sensitive situations.
•    Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.
•    Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.
•    Ability to exert 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
•    Ability to sit for long periods of time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


•    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience and training. 
•    3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on benefits and compensation administration. 
•    Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
•    Experience with Workday preferred.
•    Previous experience working with unions is a plus.  
•    Valid driver’s license and insurability to drive College vehicles.
•    Must pass background check.
