Barr is seeking a compensation analyst to join our Human Resources team in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this hybrid role, you will support Barr’s compensation programs, providing timely internal and external data to support decision making.
Responsibilities include administering annual compensation programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting FLSA classification evaluations, completing surveys and analyzing and sharing results with leaders, preparing compensation reports, assisting with compensation-related communications, and identifying and assisting with the implementation of continuous improvements.
This individual will also be responsible for maintaining accurate compensation data in Workday, conducting pay equity analyses, issuing total rewards statements, and assisting with the development of the annual bonus distribution plan. This position is embedded in the compensation and benefits group and is part of Barr’s Human Resources team.
Compensation programs: administering the annual salary setting process in collaboration with business unit and business support group managers. Processing mid-year pay adjustments as needed.
Compensation compliance: conducting FLSA evaluations to ensure compliance, monitoring minimum wage requirements at the federal and state levels, and monitoring new regulations related to compensation.
Salary surveys: participating in salary surveys and analyzing the results. Summarizing results to share with managers and company leaders.
Compensation reporting: preparing market data analyses for new and existing roles across the organization, including internal equity analyses.
Compensation communication: administering the process of annual salary communications, in collaboration with managers and the Information Systems (IS) team, writing annual salary budget memorandums to company leaders, and educating employees and managers on compensation practices.
Process improvement: assess current processes and identify opportunities to streamline compensation processes in collaboration with managers.
About the opportunity
Hybrid: a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.
Travel requirement: occasional travel to Barr offices across the United States and Canada.
Education: bachelor’s degree in a related field with an emphasis in human resources, finance, economics, mathematics, or other analytical field of study, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: three years of related compensation analysis experience in a similar role, including the following:
Experience using sophisticated HCM systems
Experience maintaining and auditing data quality, including establishing best practices and related documentation
Experience identifying, recommending, and implementing compensation process improvements
Deep knowledge of compensation practices and related employment laws
Skills:
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
Strong technical and problem-solving skills
Strong client service skills, including the ability to understand, educate, and build relationships with internal clients
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to confirm priorities with stakeholders, and plan, monitor, and follow through on work commitments to anticipate, meet, or exceed client expectations
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness in work output
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
Helpful additional experience (not required)
Experience with reporting and querying functions in Workday
Four+ years of experience in compensation administration and related reporting analysis
Experience developing process documentation and improvements
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification
Compensation: Anticipated range of $79,000–$85,000 annually. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. This position is classified as exempt (salaried) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
