Your Role in Supporting Our Members:
As a Compensation Consultant, you are a subject matter expert in the design, governance, and administration of compensation programs, with a strong focus on incentive and commission-based plans across lines of business including Commercial Banking, Retail Banking, and Wealth.
You will play a key role in evolving Vancity’s compensation programs by ensuring plans are well-designed, effectively governed, and consistently administered. You will partner closely with business leaders and People & Culture stakeholders to translate business strategies into practical, compliant, and competitive compensation solutions.
This role requires a balance of technical expertise, strong business partnering, and data-driven storytelling to influence decision-making and maintain alignment to Vancity’s compensation philosophy.
This is aâ¯Fullâtime, Permanentâ¯role based at ourâ¯Vancity head officeâ¯and will report directly to theâ¯Manager, Compensation. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be onâsite for events and business demands.
How You'll Make an Impact:

Leading the design, governance, and ongoing administration of incentive and commission-based compensation plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and internal policies

Acting as a trusted advisor to business leaders (Commercial, Retail, Wealth) on compensation plan design, pay mix, performance measures, and market practices

Managing end-to-end incentive plan processes, including eligibility, performance tracking, payout calculations, validation, and reporting

Ensuring strong governance and controls over compensation programs, including documentation, approval processes, audit readiness, and consistent policy application

Partnering with Finance, Payroll, and business teams to validate calculations, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate and timely payouts

Analyzing compensation and performance data, using tools such as Excel and Power BI, to generate insights and inform plan design and business decisions

Translating complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for senior stakeholders

Supporting the continuous improvement of compensation frameworks, policies, and processes, particularly within incentive and variable pay structures

Contributing to annual compensation cycles, including merit, incentive payouts, and structural updates, with a focus on plan integrity and consistency

Providing education, guidance, and training to leaders and People & Culture partners on compensation programs, plan mechanics, and governance requirements
What You’ll Bring to the Team:

5+ years of experience in compensation, with direct experience in incentive/commission plan design and administration

Experience supporting commercial banking, retail banking, wealth management, or other sales-driven environments

Strong understanding of plan governance, controls, and compliance (e.g., approvals, eligibility rules, documentation, audit readiness)

Demonstrated experience calculating and administering complex incentive plans, including performance measures and payout models

Advanced analytical skills, including Excel-based modeling and data manipulation

Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools to support reporting and insights
-
Strong business acumen with the ability to balance technical precision and practical business needs

Proven ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders in a consultative manner

Strong communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex compensation concepts

What You’ll Earn:
The salary range for this role is $86,400 per annum to $106,680 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
