The Compensation Manager will be a leader on the Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management Team.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available after training.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead compensation team in providing campus with excellent service in all areas of compensation and classification.
  • Partner with managers on compensation requests and organizational structure updates. Walk through what is needed from the department, the steps of the comp team, and explain results.
  • Understand, interpret, and explain applicable state/ federal laws, Board of Regents policies, UMBC policies, and MOUs. Advocate for changes when needed and implement changes.
  • Participate in negotiation preparation through costing, structure creation, and presenting/ answering questions from external committees.
  • Testify at compensation or classification hearings.
  • Partner with USM Comp Class Committee and complete costing, structure reviews, participate on committees.
  • Supervise team members. Including training on procedures, guidance on completing studies, interpreting policy, and responding to campus. Ensure Service Level Agreements are reachable and being met. Review studies and work as needed.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in HR Management or related area.
  • Five years of experience in Human Resources, three of which were exclusively in compensation.
  • Direct experience working with leaders explaining complex processes, policies and advising.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Working with a government or state agency with compensation
  • Experience in gathering data for union negotiations/ MOUs
  • Experience writing/ interpreting policy
  • Experience overseeing a team

Salary:

Salary: $92,000 - $98,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
