Ocean Capital has an opportunity for a Compensation Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in our Compensation programing, administering our annual compensation plans and processes and data analytics and reporting, as well as identifying continuous improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for executing our annual compensation plans and processes including salary, bonus, incentive plans and our employee Total Value Statement, in our HRIS in collaboration with Business HR leads.  Support the Business HR Teams with recruitment and talent management activities as it relates to compensation. 
  • HRIS Compensation module troubleshooting and resolving system issues as required, testing for quarterly upgrades, new features etc.
  • Work with vendors and strategic partners and HR to identify improvement opportunities in our processes and systems and make recommendations and implement these initiatives.
  • Provide in-depth, advanced data analytics referencing multiple sources, both internal systems and third-party systems, of vast amounts of data.  Consolidating this information in a precise and easy to understand way. Market review and analysis, cost modeling against budget, identifying trends 
  • Prepare detailed and summary reports and presentations for senior leadership decision making 
  • Support the maintenance of the compensation structures and administration guide (grading system, job evaluation system, job description policy, promotion policy), aligned with corporate culture and values
  • Provide training to HR Teams on the compensation model and structures ensuring training materials are current and complete.
  • Analyze government legislation requirements, understanding what we need to provide to ensure compliance with compensation regulations
  • Support governance policies and processes for Compensation

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Business Administration or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in a Compensation Specialist role or related role

  • CPHR Designation and CCP Designation are considered an asset

  • Knowledge of compensation programs, policies, procedures, and applicable legislation 

  • Experience executing compensation plans in an HRIS

  • Proficiency with MS office tools and advanced proficiency with Excel

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong time management and project planning skills

  • Strong ethics and discretion
