Position Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for managing patient workers' compensation matters and related tasks to ensure care is scheduled appropriately and free from complications. Key responsibilities include answering and returning workers' compensation insurance calls promptly and professionally, verifying workers' compensation coverage, obtaining prior authorizations for surgeries, MRIs, and other diagnostic testing as needed, and coordinating appointments with adjusters and medical facilities. You will send office notes daily to case managers, adjusters, and employers, documenting all interactions with patients, case managers, and employers accurately in the patient's medical record. This role also involves coordinating causation, impairment ratings, and IME requests and appointments. ORA holds all our staff members accountable for providing high-level care, maintaining patient confidentiality, and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations. As a Workers' Compensation Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient communication between providers, patients, employers, and insurance representatives.
Requirements:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. One year of medical office insurance and/or workers' compensation experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills. Proficiency working with computer applications, software programs, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is required, along with solid foundational computer skills, including accurate typing. Candidates should possess a working knowledge of insurance payers and medical terminology. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.
