At Servus Credit Union, we do things differently—because we’re a credit union, not a bank. And that difference matters.

We believe in putting people before profits, which is why our members are also our owners. If you're excited to grow your career with a team that’s innovative, hardworking, collaborative and deeply rooted in community, we want to meet you.

Join Servus and discover a better way to work.

Imagine stepping into a role where your expertise shapes the very foundation of how a company attracts, motivates, and retains its talent. Picture yourself at the helm of designing innovative Total Rewards programs—health plans that empower wellness, retirement options that secure futures, and incentives that spark ambition—all while ensuring every dollar spent aligns with market trends and company vision. As a Compensation Specialist at Servus, you’re not just crunching numbers; you’re crafting a compelling story of value and impact, one that resonates with employees and drives success in a fast-evolving 2025 landscape. Ready to make your mark?

Reporting to the Director, Culture & Employee Experience, you’ll evaluate and enhance compensation structures, benefits, and incentive plans, using market insights and data analysis to ensure our offerings remain competitive and aligned to business goals. From benchmarking and building dashboards to designing innovative, employee-centric rewards, you’ll partner with leaders to deliver programs that drive attraction, engagement, and retention across the organization.

What you'll be doing:

  • Administer and continuously improve STIP programs: Support the design, modeling, and execution of Short-Term Incentive Plans (STIP), including eligibility rules, performance measures, payout curves, and governance processes, ensuring alignment to organizational performance, pay-for-performance philosophy, and fiscal objectives.
  • Support sales incentive program design and evolution: Partner on the development and refinement of sales compensation programs, including commission structures, quotas, and incentive mechanics, balancing motivation, simplicity, and cost control while aligning to business growth priorities and member outcomes.
  • Model and analyze incentive plan effectiveness: Conduct scenario modeling and post-payout analysis for STIP and sales incentive programs, assessing outcomes against intended behaviours, budget targets, and ROI, and recommending data-driven refinements to improve performance alignment and plan sustainability.
  • Enable leader understanding and adoption: Develop clear guidance, tools, and training to support leaders in understanding STIP and sales incentive programs, including how performance translates to payout, reinforcing transparency and confidence in compensation outcomes.
  • Administer core compensation cycles: Support annual salary planning and incentive processes end to end, including eligibility validation, proration logic, audit checks, and issue resolution to ensure accurate outcomes and a strong leader and employee experience.
  • Provide confident day-to-day compensation guidance: Offer practical counsel to People & Culture and senior leaders on compensation decisions (offers, promotions, transfers, exceptions), applying policy interpretation and sound judgment to deliver consistent outcomes.
  • Evaluate and Innovate: Assess current salary structures, incentive plans, and benefit offerings to ensure market competitiveness and alignment with organizational goals, identifying opportunities to elevate our total rewards framework.
  • Research and Benchmark: Conduct market research and benchmarking to compare our compensation and benefits offerings with industry standards and competitors, uncovering trends to keep us ahead of the curve.
  • Design Strategically: Assist in developing comprehensive total rewards strategies, integrating salary, bonuses, commissions, health benefits, retirement plans, and recognition programs to create a cohesive, employee-centric package.
  • Analyze with Impact: Provide data-driven insights through reports and dashboards on compensation and benefits, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and internal policies, while spotlighting ROI and utilization trends.
  • Present and Lead: Create compelling presentations on findings for senior leaders and contribute to executive compensation strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and market best practices.
  • Shape Benefits: Design forward-thinking benefit programs—health, wellness, retirement, and paid time off plans—leveraging employee feedback and 2025/2026 trends like personalization and ESG integration to meet diverse needs.
  • Collaborate and Influence: Partner with People & Culture and senior leadership to align designs with workforce priorities, presenting actionable recommendations that enhance engagement, attraction, and retention.

What you Bring:

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in total rewards, with a strong focus on compensation and benefits design and analysis.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., UKG) and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau), paired with advanced analytical and reporting skills.
  • Experience working in a financial institution considered an asset
  • Certifications like Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), or SHRM-CP are considered an asset.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills to collaborate across teams and present insights to leadership.
  • Knowledge of 2025/2026 trends—AI-driven personalization, hybrid work benefits, or ESG goals—is highly valued
