Energy Recovery is seeking a strategic and analytical HR professional to join our team in a hybrid role that blends the consultative and people-focused responsibilities of an HR Business Partner (HRBP) with the technical and data-driven expertise of a Compensation Center of Excellence (COE). This unique position offers the opportunity to influence both employee experience and organizational effectiveness through proactive business partnering and compensation strategy.
What Will You Do?
HR Business Partner (HRBP) Responsibilities – 50%
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing guidance on workforce planning, talent development, organizational design, and employee relations.
- Partner with leadership to drive employee engagement, performance management, and succession planning initiatives.
- Support change management efforts and help leaders navigate organizational transformation.
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, and other HR functions to deliver integrated people solutions.
- Analyze HR metrics and trends to inform strategic decisions and improve business outcomes.
Compensation COE Responsibilities – 50%
- Design, implement, and maintain competitive compensation programs aligned with business strategy and market benchmarks.
- Conduct job evaluations, market pricing, and internal equity analyses to support hiring, promotions, and retention.
- Lead annual compensation processes including merit planning, bonus administration, and salary structure reviews.
- Provide compensation consulting to HRBPs and business leaders, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Partner with Finance and HRIS teams to ensure data accuracy and reporting integrity.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., CCP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in compensation or total rewards.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and HRIS systems; experience with compensation modeling and benchmarking tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across all levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

$220,000 - $250,000 a year
The salary range for this role is $220,000 to $250,000/year with bonus opportunity, equity grant, and other perks. The stated range is the range that we reasonably believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. This range may be modified in the future.
