What You’ll Do
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, design, and administration of ThriftBooks’ benefits programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives, financial plans, and organizational values.
- Oversee all benefits administration, including health plans, retirement programs, leave management (FMLA, ADA, and other statutory leaves), and regulatory compliance.
- Partner closely with Legal to ensure compensation, benefits, leave, and payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local laws.
- Develop and manage company-wide compensation structures, including job architecture, pay structures, and payscale governance to ensure competitive and equitable pay practices.
- Lead the annual merit and bonus planning processes in collaboration with HR and Finance, including compensation budgeting and market benchmarking.
- Supervise and provide direction to the Benefits Administrator, ensuring effective execution of day-to-day operations and high service standards.
You’ll Also Work On
- Serving as the primary liaison with benefits brokers, carriers, and Paycom.
- Overseeing payroll integration, including benefit and 401(k) deductions.
- Ensuring accurate compliance reporting and required filings.
- Collaborating with the Field HR Team to investigate and manage Workers’ Compensation cases.
- Providing subject matter expertise to HR and leadership on compensation, benefits, and policy interpretation.
- Supporting and strengthening compliance training related to benefits and leave administration.
- Identifying process improvements and staying current on industry trends and best practices.
BASE SALARY:
$105,000-$135,000/yr. This range reflects the good-faith hiring base salary range for this position. owever, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, experience, and education/training.

QualificationsWhat You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits management.
- Strong background in benefits administration, including FMLA and ADA compliance.
- Experience partnering with Legal on employment, leave, and benefits-related matters.
- Demonstrated payroll experience, including benefits and retirement deduction oversight.
- Deep understanding of compensation principles, job evaluation methodologies, pay structure design, and market benchmarking.
- Experience managing relationships with benefits brokers, third-party administrators, and payroll vendors (Paycom experience strongly preferred).
- Working knowledge of Workers’ Compensation processes and collaboration with HR field teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret compensation data and drive informed decision-making.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across multiple organizational levels.
- Experience supervising or directly managing at least one HR/Benefits professional.
What Else We’re Looking For
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation preferred.
- Experience managing company-wide compensation frameworks and maintaining structured pay scales.
