Job Description:
Salary: $26.318 - $41.215
Pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.
Examples of Work
What you will do as a Compensation and Classification Analyst:
Initiate and conduct position reviews to promote Agency workforce efficiency, make accurate and appropriate recommendations and determinations in accordance with the State's Classified System.
Compose, research, analyze, and complete requests to create new positions and reclassifications of existing positions.
Prepare justification and related correspondence for processing requests for in-grade salary adjustments and increased hiring rates
Collect market/related data, prepare classification and/or compensation proposals, and budget impact reports.
Determine necessary revisions to State-wide classification specifications and Agency specific job descriptions
Review and determine correct compensation and FLSA (overtime) designation.
Provide interpretation on the Classified System Personnel Rules and Regulations, Union contracts, employment laws, policy, Agency practice, etc.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Past working experience with classification and/or compensation systems of at least 2 years; past direct involvement of at least 1 year with conducting compensation studies and creating business plans and/or pay lines; versed in reviewing and researching while consistently providing professional support; and preparation and remittance of accurate, confidential communications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Other: Position is housed on-site at the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln.
Knowledge, skills, abilities:
Knowledge of: Human resources/personnel practices, procedures and terminology; state and federal personnel/employment laws including but not limited to FLSA; recruitment and hiring practices; efficient and effective review and research processes. Strong organizational skills and the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships; and excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, and manage priorities successfully.
