Description

Job Summary:

The Compensation Analyst I is responsible for developing and administering company compensation programs, systems, and special projects in collaboration with team members, customers and management. The Analyst I will interface with internal departments across the Estes to assist in driving business results and support the overall HR strategy of attracting, rewarding, and retaining top talent. Success in this position will lead to career growth and requires well-developed communication skills, flexibility, eagerness to learn, intermediate Excel skills, attention to detail, and a strong customer focus. This position reports to the Manager, Compensation & Talent Analytics and will be located at our Richmond VA Corporate Headquarters.

  • Assist with analysis, design, and administration of compensation plans including base and incentive pay.
  • Work with business leaders to identify job description needs and exercise judgement in writing and defining job(s) based on business needs. Evaluate exemption status, career level, pay, and FLSA classifications. Collaborate with Manager to ensure decision documentation and risk mitigation.
  • Review employee compensation requests and collaborate with hiring management on salary offers as directed by the Manager, Compensation. Monitor and ensure proper documentation, approval, and adherence to company guidelines.
  • Extract data from payroll and other system databases for manipulation and analysis in Excel. Assist in preparing market compensation survey submissions and perform ongoing competitive analyses in collaboration with other team members
  • Assist with compensation-related processes, e.g., Company Performance Adjustment and other enterprise-wide projects; identify opportunities for improvement to increase operational efficiencies
  • Review, track and maintain job descriptions on secure drive and/or JDX job description software. May serve as systems administrator for JDX and back-up administrator for performance and compensation management system.
  • Develop and conduct routine and ad-hoc audits and analyze utilizing multiple systems’ data sets. Form conclusions and execute corrective action while documenting continuous improvement opportunities
  • Effectively interact and communicate with customers to ensure understanding of compensation related requests and business needs; ask clarifying questions and provide timely results
  • Assist with development of leadership and employee communications and training materials
  • Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field highly preferred or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
  • 1 or more years of Human Resources experience required. Previous compensation experience preferred.
  • World at Work Compensation Certification preferred.
  • Ability to extract and manipulate data from HRIS and related systems required.
  • Requires strong overall understanding of Microsoft Office products. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are preferred.
  • Previous HRIS or Job Description Management system administration experience preferred. Experience with Oracle HCM Fusion highly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and customer focus
  • Ability to handle confidential data and requests and maintain confidentiality of work products
  • Logical thinking and problem solving skills with ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results-driven, team oriented environment
  • Must possess a strong work ethic with flexibility in work schedule with travel as needed
  • Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job

  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
  • Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
