Compensation Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the management, administration, creation and development of all compensation programs for the Bank and facilitating the coordination of all compensation programs to support and align with business objectives and strategies.  This role ensures alignment with business objectives, market competitiveness, and regulatory compliance. The position serves as a key advisor to leadership, providing insights and guidance on compensation-related matters that support talent attraction, retention, and engagement across the organization. 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Leads the design and development of assigned compensation programs, which may include various base, variable and executive compensation plans and programs. 
  • Responsible for assembling, compiling, and certifying the information necessary for preparation of the memorandum for the Annual Review of the 1st Source Incentive Plans which is reviewed with the Board of Directors (Risk Management) 
  • Manages job leveling processes and maintains salary structures to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness. 
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations which control or impact compensation plans and policies.  
  • Manages the Annual Salary Planning Process, including salary projections for the following year, updating salary structures based on projections, updating the merit increase guide matrix, and summarizing in the Salary Planning Memo with recommendations for review with the Board of Directors. 
  • Conducts compensation benchmarking as needed. 
  • Regularly participates and completes industry and other relevant salary surveys. 
  • Manages the compensation benchmarking process partnered with independent compensation consultants, providing advice as to the competitiveness of salary structures for officers, NEOs, and other critical positions at least every three years. 
  • Oversees the successful delivery and completion of the performance management process. 
  • In partnership with the HR Data Analyst, reviews Quarterly Board KPIs. 
  • In partnership with the HR Data Analyst, reviews and oversees the completion of the annual AAP. 
  • Prepares and conducts compensation training programs upon request. 
  • Develops compensation-related communication materials including policies, procedures, guidelines and presentations. 
  • Designs and develops tools needed to support, automate, enhance program processes and administration. 
  • Provides consultation, guidance and support to Managers and Senior Management on compensation-related issues including compensation decisions, pay practices, and policy interpretation. 
  • Collaborates with HR and business leaders to ensure compensation strategies support organizational goals.
  • Contributes to the design, administration, interpretation and implementation of H R policies and procedures including but not limited to those policies and procedures related to wage and hour law, compensation, and performance management.
  • Stays abreast of HR trends & innovative techniques, legal regulations & practices.
  • Manages and oversees the preparation of the annual budget for the HR division. 
  • Leads or contributes to special projects related to total rewards, workforce analytics, talent management, career pathing, and talent programs. 
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities as needed. 
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of the position. 
  • Responsible for the completion of all compliance training related to the position. 
  • Understands all applicable laws and regulations that apply to the position and complies with the requirements.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Partners in development and implementation of effective policies and procedures. 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Five (5) years or more of related experience preferred.  
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred. 
  • Knowledge of compensation theory, methodology, legislative governance including wage and hour regulations, compliance, and tools. 
  • Prior public accounting and/or corporate accounting experience is helpful.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel essential. 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. 
  • Ability to be proactive, take initiative, and carefully monitor, follow through, and complete every project/responsibility. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to protect the confidentiality/privacy of others as appropriate, as well as of company documents and records. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Effective public speaking. 
  • Great organizational skills.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree required, concentration in business, accounting or human resources preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS
World at Work Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or progress toward certification preferred.

 TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel to all locations as well as ability to travel overnight, as needed for meetings, projects, training seminars, etc.
