The Compensation Specialist is responsible for assisting in the administration of Hackensack Meridian Health Compensation programs.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Compensation Specialist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Researches and resolves compensation issues based on employee inquiries.
  • Handles all Leader Self Service transactions within PeopleSoft that roll up to the Compensation department including, but not limited to, pay rate change requests, employee transfers, position reclassifications, and additional pay changes.
  • Manages the Human Resources Job Description Library ensuring all job descriptions are updated as well as in the proper job description format and maintained within PeopleSoft.
  • Develops job descriptions reflecting appropriate title, essential functions, qualifications, and requirements.
  • Conducts internal comparisons to ensure wage and salary range recommendations are equitable.
  • Evaluates and analyzes salary data and makes recommendations to more senior members of the compensation team for approvals.
  • Participates in compensation surveys compiling and submitting requested data followed by analyzing the results and making recommendations to more senior members of the compensation team.
  • Compiles statistical information and prepares reports relating to compensation and position management utilizing the HRIS system.
  • Creates and provides reports using PeopleSoft and Excel spreadsheets.
  • May provide support for productivity programs (gainsharing, patient experience) as needed, such as program implementation or maintenance.
  • Partners with all divisions within Human Resources as well as Finance and Payroll in various functions.
  • Evaluates compensation offers for internal transfers and new hires.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
  • Some experience in a related area or field.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large data files.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Prior Human Resources experience.
  • Prior Compensation experience.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Certified Compensation Professional.

Starting Minimum Rate

Minimum rate of $63,336.00 Annually

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
