Compensation Analyst

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

 

The Senior Compensation Analyst will play a key role in the compensation strategy and policy and will be the lead for researching, gathering, and analyzing compensation data to establish competitive and fair salary structures for various job positions. The position will have a focus on provider compensation and contracting. This position will monitor and review provider contract statuses, calculate provider compensation and accruals and audit provider payments. The role will also be responsible for ensuring all provider contracts are fully executed and supported by essential documentation. This position will manage and uphold compensation policies, procedures, and practices, which include verifying salary information, evaluating transfers and promotions for alignment with salary guidelines, and ensuring consistency across compensation-related decisions. Responsibilities will also include generating detailed reports, updating job descriptions, maintaining the compensation database, and overseeing approved updates to the salary structure. The Senior Compensation Analyst will investigate salary discrepancies, provide analysis, and present findings for review. Additionally, the role will provide back-up to the HRIS Business Analyst and provide support to other areas within Human Resources, such as Benefits, Employment, and Recruiting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Number of Direct Reports:  

Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree Required 

Degree:  Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field 

License/Certification Required: CCP Preferred 

Minimum Work Experience:   Minimum of 4 years of experience in Human Resources administration with emphasis in compensation and benefits administration, preferably in a healthcare setting 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

 

  • Must be skilled in job analysis, job evaluation and market pricing jobs 

  • Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods 

  • Ability to understand and manage compensation survey requirements 

  • Must have experience in salary planning processes, which includes merit, adjustment and promotion increases 

  • Experience evaluating markets and trends affecting compensation 

  • Understanding of regulatory practices such as FLSA requirements 

  • Experience with relevant analytical tools, with a strong focus on spreadsheet applications 

  • Critical HR Competencies, including process management, analytical skills, problem solving and decision-making 

  • Demonstrated strength in planning, organizing and executing 

  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written; presentation facilitation and some basic training skills 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook: Advanced skills (Pivot tables, Vlookup, etc) 

  • Ability to work with little direction, manage conflict and manage multiple priorities 

  • Must be detailed oriented, sets high standards for self, comfortable with change and acts with integrity, must have the highest integrity with confidential information 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Reviews and analyzes the wage and salary structure to assure external market competitiveness and internal equity. Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position 

  • Prepares and maintains provider contracts 

  • Calculates provider compensation and accruals 

  • Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents. Administers Pay-on-Performance appraisal program and wage adjustment program; creates and manages all reporting for these programs 

  • Manages day-to-day operations of HRIS system, including data feeds and process integration, training and tool creation, while being mindful of end-user needs 

  • Plans for future development of the system, including project timelines and strategy, Maintains and updates all job descriptions; assists in creation of new job descriptions to include compensation analysis, Updates position control and position data, and creates and maintains reports and data 

  • Build and maintain reporting and compensation metrics. Analyze compensation package trends to ensure industry competitiveness and employee retention 

  • Reviews salary changes 

  • Participates in developing the organization's guidelines, policies and procedures 

  • Assists with benefits, recruitment and employment as needed 

  • Assists the Manager of Compensation and Benefits and other HR leadership in related programs as deemed necessary 

  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment 

  • Responds to customers within 24 hours with some level of response.  

  • Takes accountability to understand the departments they are serving and to work in a collaborative manner 

  • Ensures accuracy of information prior to releasing it 

  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives 

  • Monitors our pay ranges and informs leadership of outliers. Ensures accuracy in matching ETCH positions with market 

  • Fosters mature professional relationships with fellow employees in a courteous, friendly manner as measured by management observations and peer input
