Position Overview 

 

The Manager, Payroll & Benefits is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the compensation, benefits, and payroll programs for all employees in the region. This role has oversight of payroll programs (including reporting and auditing), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Additionally, this position provides valuable compensation reporting and recommendations to support our talent management strategies. The ideal candidate ensures alignment and application of best practices throughout the region, collaborates with other regions to ensure consistencies across Vantage where possible, and helps define and build an employee experience that attracts and retains top talent.   

Essential Job Functions 

Total Rewards Strategy: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive total rewards strategy, including compensation, benefits, and recognition programs, to attract and retain talent. 
  • Align the total rewards strategy with the company's business objectives and ensure it supports the organization’s growth and financial goals. 

Payroll & Compensation Management: 

  • Manage and lead all aspects of payroll programs, collaborating with your payroll team and payroll providers to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and timely processing of payroll. 
  • Work with the Senior Director, Compensation to regularly inspect compensation benchmarking information to provide insights and recommendations to the recruiting and people teams
  • Assist the Compensation team with the annual salary review process, including merit increases, promotions, and market adjustments. 

Benefits Administration: 

  • Manage the administration of employee benefits programs, including health and wellness plans, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits. 
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to benefits plans to ensure they meet the needs of employees and remain competitive in the marketplace. 
  • Lead all aspects of the open enrollment process and ensure effective communication of benefits programs to employees. 

Compliance and Reporting: 

  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to compensation, payroll, and benefits. 
  • Prepare and submit required reports, filings, and other regulatory requirements. 
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all compensation and benefits programs. 

Employee Communication and Education: 

  • Develop and deliver communication tools and user guides to educate employees about our total rewards offerings.
  • Advise managers and drive compliance with relative wage and hour regulations.
  • Conduct training sessions and provide resources to help employees understand and maximize their benefits. 

Vendor Management: 

  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure high-quality service and cost-effective solutions.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors to secure competitive rates and services. 

Budget and Financial Management: 

  • Develop and manage the budget for total rewards programs, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Monitor and analyze the financial impact of compensation, payroll and benefits programs and recommend adjustments as needed. 

Collaboration: 

  • Collaborate with People & Culture, Finance, and executive leadership to ensure total rewards strategies align with company objectives.
  • Partner with People & Culture and Talent Acquisition teams to support recruitment and retention efforts through competitive compensation and benefits offerings.
  • Work in concert with Accounting and Finance teammates to ensure proper cost allocation and recording, and budgeting.
  • Work closely with the Learning and Development team to ensure total rewards programs support employee growth and development initiatives.
  • Cultivate inter-departmental relationships to align on goals and objectives, exchange information, and partner on improvement initiatives to drive overall organizational success.
  • Partner with internal teams to drive compliance and timely audit responses.   

Continuous Improvement: 

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in total rewards and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular assessments of total rewards programs to ensure they meet the needs of the organization and its employees.

Additional Duties: 

  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Management. 

 

Job Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPP, CBP) preferred. 
  • 5+ years of experience in total rewards management, including compensation, benefits, and payroll administration. 
  • Experience in the data center or technology industry is highly preferred. 
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, including proficiency in Excel or similar tools. 
  • In-depth knowledge of US and Canadian payroll regulations and practices. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences. 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive compliant practices with commitments to accuracy, rapid correction when necessary and development of a systematic approach to the docket of reporting requirements throughout a given plan year. 
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to compensation and benefits. 
  • Experience with HRIS and compensation analysis software/tools.
  • Experience with Workday preferred. Payroll processing experience in ADP .
  • Travel required is expected to be up to 10% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
