A Workers’ Compensation Analyst job is available with the City of Fort Worth - Human Resources/Workers’ Compensation Division. The Risk Management Division within the Human Resources Department is responsible for managing the insurance programs acquired by the City of Fort Worth to minimize risks. This position provides support to the department, with a primary emphasis on technical tasks and data analysis.

To be successful in this role, the candidate should be self-motivated and well-adapted to work under pressure while maintaining deadlines with speed, accuracy and a professional and compassionate attitude. They will need to be prepared to act in the moment as workers’ compensation claims can arise at any time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resource management, public administration, sociology, business administration or a related field
  • No previous experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible professional human resources experience, claims services, and/or risk management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Professional experience in Workers’ Compensation and Human Resources practices and procedures
  • PeopleSoft software experience
  • General accounting and accounts payable experience

The Workers Compensation Analyst job responsibilities include: 

  • Assist in day-to-day processing of the Workers’ Compensation program, including claims processing and research, medical case management, and data processing related to Workers’ Compensation.
  • Responds to requests for information from management staff, employees, representatives from other departments and vendors.
  • Analyze, interpret, and apply laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to workers’ compensation
  • Write clear, comprehensive, and accurate reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information and effectively communicate the findings.
  • Ability to process and maintain confidential documents and personnel data, and submission into various databases, including PeopleSoft
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt to change and work well with others. The applicant must also have strong interpersonal communication and documentation skills
  • Excellent operational and organizational skills with the ability to manage complex work; be self-directed and quickly develop a full understanding of our business.
