Required Education\: Bachelor's Degree, AND:
- 3 years of experience in workers compensation, claims analysis, risk management or a related field.
Equivalency/Substitution: Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of a degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years experience required in place of a degree.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of workers compensation laws, claims processes, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to interpret changes in workers compensation legislation and regulatory updates, and effectively communicate their impact to stakeholders
- Knowledge of multi-state workers compensation regulations, including self-insured and excess insurance requirements
- In-depth understanding of Oklahoma Workers Compensation laws, regulations, and procedures, including familiarity with the Workers Compensation Court and Commission
- Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders including students, faculty, and staff
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data and information
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the University's workers compensation program. This includes evaluating injury claims, liaising with third-party administrators (TPAs), ensuring legal compliance, and providing guidance to employees, supervisors, and departments. Serves as the central point of contact for claims management and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely, fair, and efficient resolution of claims, while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinates and processes workers compensation claims for campus employees
- Prepares and compiles workers compensation data and reports to meet legal, financial, management, and university reporting requirements
- Conducts audits, compliance reviews, and risk management initiatives related to workers' compensation
- Ensures timely claims reporting and documentation accuracy
- Conducts investigations to determine the compensability of workplace injury claims
- Manages injury claims in coordination with Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) and workers' compensation attorneys
- Serves as the primary contact for workers compensation cases, maintaining communication with injured employees, departments, external partners, and other University campuses
- Facilitates meetings and daily communication with TPAs and campus coordinators to ensure consistent claims handling this includes responding to attorney inquiries and supports legal processes related to claims
- Provides guidance to employees regarding workers compensation policies, procedures, and benefits
- Monitors and manages litigated claims, including correspondence, authorizations, mediation, and file reviews
- Coordinates health exposure incidents (e.g., needle-stick, sharps) for clinical staff, ensuring timely documentation and follow-up
- Serves as a liaison with the Office of Legal Counsel and supports university employee witnesses involved in injury claims, including court accompaniment as needed
- Prepares and submits insurance applications and maintains records for coverage and compliance
- Submits required Multiple Injury Trust Fund (MITF) reports to the Oklahoma Tax Commission and Workers Compensation Commission
- Provides management with updates on performance, issues, and compliance related to external partners and vendors
- Processes payments to external entities such as TPAs, brokers, and government agencies
- Delivers ongoing education and training to employees, supervisors, and managers on workers' compensation procedures and policies
- Stays up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local workers compensation laws and industry best practices
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position
