The SEARHC Compensation Analyst is responsible for conducting comprehensive compensation analyses, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational and regulatory standards and industry benchmarks. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex compensation structures to support organizational objectives and services departmental functions.

This role will be responsible for evaluating compensation structures, supporting decision-making around compensation approaches through analysis, assessment, and modeling. The analyst will provide actionable insights to support the organization’s goals for compensation, including an emphasis on recruitment, retention, and performance.

This role involves developing and improving processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in compensation analysis, compensation plan development, interfaces with stakeholders and process, project coordination, and workflow development. The analyst will collaborate cross-functionally with operational and clinical leadership to support data-driven decision-making around compensation. A deep understanding of compensation models, contracts, and industry best practices is essential as well as an understanding of the complexities of the Southeast Alaskan healthcare landscape.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

  • Promote and integrate the SEARHC mission, vision, and values in all aspects of job responsibilities and accountabilities, maintaining a service-oriented and quality-focused culture within SEARHC.

  • Analyze and develop compensation models comparing against industry and third-party benchmarks and internal standards.

  • Utilize understanding of compensation methodologies and plans and make thoughtful recommendations on compensation models to align with business objectives.

  • Partner with outside firms, services director, and SEARHC legal department and to ensure fair market value and commercial reasonableness in compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Conduct internal compensation analysis and assessments.

  • Develop, enhance, and document processes related to compensation methodologies, compensation review cadence, implementation plans, etc.

  • Assist Services Director in preparatory materials and details for executive-level compensation committee meetings.

  • Participate in and support strategic planning around compensation plan design to meet organizational objectives.

  • Provide analytical support for letters of intent, new contracts, contract renewals, amendments and negotiations at the direction of the services director.

  • Provide guidance and interpretation of compensation policies/programs.

  • Partner with Services Director in discussions and presentation of compensation plan details with executive leadership and appropriate groups.

  • Evaluate and manage requests for new contracts and contract modifications.

  • Partner with stakeholders across departments and clinical service lines to ensure all necessary information is gathered and understood when putting together compensation terms.

  • Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders the details of compensation components.

  • Identify areas of opportunity and partner to design, develop, and implement effective and efficient workflows related to compensation matters.

  • Develop compensation reports and dashboards for various specialties and practices.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data on contracts and compensation.

  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc compensation reports for leadership and other stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to compensation.

  • Assist Services Director with projects as directed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Experience Required

  • 6+ years of experience in healthcare compensation analysis and healthcare finance.

  • Knowledge and understanding of healthcare compensation models and methodologies, compensation benchmarking, contracting, and associated regulatory requirements.

  • Experience working with various clinical specialties and environments, and operational awareness is a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of compensation models, market trends, and regulatory requirements.

  • Knowledge of healthcare-related compensation practices.

  • Ability to understand and interpret contracts.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Extreme attention to detail.

  • Ability to think at a granular, detailed level and translate and communicate concepts effectively and persuasively and executive leadership.

  • Ability to prioritize assignments and projects in consultation with services director.

  • Adaptable and flexible work style with a commitment to achieving excellent results by overcoming obstacles and seeking clarity.

  • Ability to function effectively in ambiguous situations.

  • Ability to assess current processes and workflows and to develop improved ones.

  • Ability to understand issues through active listening.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex compensation concepts to various stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including C-Suite.

  • Ability to think critically about the impact of compensation approaches across the organization.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SmartSheet, and SharePoint.  Data visualization and reporting software proficiency a plus.

  • Project management experience a plus.

  • Understanding of Alaskan healthcare market is a plus.
