The (Senior) Compensation Manager - APAC is responsible for executing and enhancing reward strategies in alignment with the Firm’s vision, business needs, and talent strategy. This role involves implementing, and maintaining a competitive and sustainable reward framework to attract, retain, and motivate talent across the region, while fostering the Firm culture. The role reports functionally to the Head of HR - APAC.  The (Senior) Compensation Manager - APAC works closely with the Regional Managing Partner (RMP) and leadership team, and other key stakeholders.  The incumbent will make use of both strategic and operational skills to ensure our people policies meet the needs of the business, developing new initiatives and tailored approaches, as appropriate.

Key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Establish a strategic business partner relationship with the Regional Managing Partner, local Office Managing Partners, and Practice Group partners to align compensation strategies with business objectives
  • Provide high-quality compensation operations to the APAC offices and RMP by leading :
  • Annual compensation review
  • Bonus review process
  • Advancement and promotion process
  • Reward and recognition programs
  • Retention and succession planning strategies
  • Conduct benchmarking analysis to ensure the Firm's compensation and benefits packages are competitive and sustainable across the multi-jurisdiction region
  • Collaborate with global teams on global and regional benefits and wellbeing programs
  • Formulate, implement, and review/enhance Human Resources policies
  • Lead the implementation of key global/regional People programs and be the primary point of contact in APAC
  • Lead/co-ordinate the HR Managers to ensure people strategy is applied consistently across the region :
  • Keep the HR team up to date on firm and global HR policy change and projects
  • Work closely with the Head of HR – APAC to conduct objective performance review discussions for the APAC HR team
  • Provide regular coaching for ongoing development
  • Contribute to the global People team strategic priorities by aligning regional compensation strategies with global initiatives :
  • Actively contribute to the development of the people strategies
  • Proactively drive assigned people initiatives, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely completion
  • Support annual processes and HRIS system initiatives
  • Keep up-to-date with peer firms and best practice developments and trends, building networks and encouraging the team to build their own local networks

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications essential
  • Experience in a top tier law firm is preferable, alternatively in a professional services firm, consulting or similar
  • HRIS (Workday preferred)
