The salary range posted represents the low and high end of OSI’s salary range for this position. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, experience and performance. Base salary is one component of OSI’s overall total rewards package. Other components may include bonuses, special pay programs, comprehensive time off, 401k with match and a full suite of benefit offerings for you and your family. 

 

Position Summary:

The Workers’ Compensation Specialist is responsible for assisting with employee injury claims and return-to-work programs. This position provides case coordination support, ensuring timely and accurate handling of workers’ compensation cases. They serve as a trusted resource and advocates for employees navigating work-related injuries or illnesses while maintaining compliance with all workers’ compensation laws and organizational policies. They will collaborate with employees, supervisors, medical providers, and insurance representatives to promote a positive and fair claims experience.

 

******This position will be primarily at our Batavia location 3 days per week, 1 day per week at Geneva and 1 day per week at West Chicago******

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Workers Compensation Case Coordinator (55%)

·                     Serve as the primary point of contact for employee work-related injury claims, from initial incident through return to work or case closure, including follow-ups to keep them apprised of the status throughout the claim process.

·                     Communicate regularly with injured employees to share updates, support, and guidance on return-to-work procedures.

·                     Coordinate with WC – TPA, Safety, and HR departments to support accurate documentation, claim filing, and follow-through with insurance carriers and medical providers.

·                     Assist with the employee, company and TPA for monitoring of modified duty or light-duty assignments as part of return-to-work programs.

Maintain accurate Workers Compensation files (25%)

·                     Track, update, and maintain workers’ compensation files, ensuring all data is accurate, current, and compliant with company policies and state regulations.

·                     Support audits and reporting for insurance or regulatory purposes as needed.

Support claim reporting and review (10%)

·                     Support and distribute internal reports regarding active claims, case outcomes, and trends.

·                     Collaborate with the Safety team to review incident reports and help identify opportunities to improve workplace safety practices wherever possible.

                     Perform other duties as assigned (10%)

                     Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all applicable workers’ compensation laws and OSHA reporting requirements.

                     This role has the responsibility to understand and places in practice appropriate safety procedures.  This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.

Experience & Skills:           

                     1-3 years of experience in related field is preferred.

                     Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

                     Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of empathy.

                     Experience advocating for customers / employees or handling sensitive information.

                     Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

                     Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

                     Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

                     Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

                     Familiarity with workers’ compensation or FMLA and other leave laws preferred

Preferred Education:          

           High School Diploma and/or equivalent work experience is required.

Work Environment:             

                     Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people and conveyor (may depend on the role).

                     Work conditions are typical of a food manufacturing facility.

                     This role requires 10% domestic travel.

                     Position may require the physical agility of lifting up to 15 pounds

                     Position may require the physical ability to stand/walk for Greater than 4 hours.
